Over the last year as we have rebuilt after the fire we have concentrated our effort at Thirsk. After a huge effort we are only a couple of weeks from the site being operational again. We can now turn our attention to our Rufforth Airfield Waste transfer station, where the plan is to construct a new waste transfer building for skip hire York, and to start selling aggregates in York, or cheap aggregates and recycled aggregates York to the trade. This will be a one stop shop for waste tipping York, or waste disposal York and pick up your cheap sand / gravel and stone at the same time.

Once filled we collect the skip and transport to one of our licensed waste recycling sites for treatment. Over this same period we have also complemented skip hire york with Tipper wagons for moving larger quantities of wastes. IN spring this year we are planning to add a grab wagon to the fleet to fit between skip hire and tipper wagon. Grab wagon york and grab wagon north yorkshire will be able to deliver stone, recycled aggregates, and collect waste by self loading with a clam bucket. Additionally the wagon will be able collect hippo bags and dumpy bags of construction waste, agricultural waste collection north yorkshire and any other wastes whereby a grab wagon is more suited than skip hire pickering or tipper wagons.
Whilst the government have not changed the threshold for the need of a construction site waste management plan, from a build cost of £200,000.00 there are a number of reasons that a SWMP should be considered at the outset of a construction project. For skip hire north yorkshire we offer our customers a service whereby we design, administer and undertake all the requirements of site waste management plans. Within our fleet we also operate tipper trucks, whereby we supply recycled aggregates and muck shifting / disposal of excavated soils and inert tipping at predominantly to our Asenby Quarry inert landfill site.

Thirsk scout hut dream comes true after waste management business steps in with landfill tax credit
A 101-year-old North Yorkshire scouts and guides group is set to move back into fully-refurbished premises this month (January 2012) – thanks to support from a Thirsk-based waste management company. Sowerby Scouts and Guide Group, founded in 1910 and based off Front Street, Thirsk, has raised £110,000 for the new premises after gaining a massive £85,000 contribution from family business Todd Waste Management.
Other contributions were made by a wide range of local businesses and award bodies, including Awards for All.
The scouts and guides group, which has more than 100 members aged between five and 16 from Sowerby, Thirsk, and surrounding villages, sought fund-raising help after its 50-year-old premises fell into disrepair.
Todd Waste Management, whose managing director, Richard Todd, attended the same scouts group as a teenager, made the community contribution through its landfill tax credit scheme and the remaining funds were raised by the Sowerby Scout and Guide Executive Group through a series of appeals and events.
Chair of Sowerby Scouts and Guides Association, David Wood, says: “The former building had deteriorated with poor heating and insulation, meagre washing and toilet facilities and an electric installation well below current standards. The building also became terribly cold in the winter – seldom above freezing – and was unsuitable for meetings.
“Our original plan was to try and steadily repair and refurbish the property over five to ten years but this very significant and generous support from Todd Waste Management has allowed us to undertake all the works, and more, at once and we’ll be ready to move in early next year. ”
The new scout hut, built by contractor, Alpha Building Facilities, Ltd, Haxby, includes a community/meeting room, cloakroom, kitchen, storerooms and toilets with facilities for the disabled. It also features low-energy lighting, and insulation which complies with the latest government sustainability standards. Improvements to the façade of the building make it more in keeping with the adjacent parochial hall and local environment.
Todd Waste Management made the donation through not-for–profit organisation, Monde Green, which specialises in managing community projects funded through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) which collects landfill tax to which the company contributes through its operations.
Richard Todd says “While our company is committed to moving away from landfill to achieve total recycling and recovery of wastes, it is very pleasing when we are able to make a contribution to such an important community initiative, especially in the current economic climate.
“I used this scout hut as a teenager and we are proud to be able to contribute to new premises which will help to create a stronger future for the coming generations of local scouts and guides.”
Todd Waste Management provides a recycling service to a wide range of customers from large public sector organisations and builders to individual households. The company handles a wide range of wastes including from the construction, industrial and commercial sectors as well as managing the disposal of hazardous materials.

SRF Baled waste export and TSF
After many false dawns and obstacles along the way, Tuesday 24th January 2012 brought a Champagne day for ourselves. After the fire of last May and the long hard road to recovery, we reached a milestone in that we dispatched our first TSF Transfrontier Shipment of waste load of processed non recyclable baled waste to our partner, AVL in Rozenburg, The Netherlands. This simple act of dispatching baled SRF waste took us a step closer to achieving 0% to landfill, total recycling, resource recovery. Whilst we have often been thought of as a skip hire York and Skip hire Scarborough company we are bigger and more ambitious than this. The next project on our list is turn household food, household organic, organic fines, trommel fines, what ever names our care to give it into a homogeneous soup suitable for input into an AD plant (Anaerobic Digestion plant). I will keep you informed of our progress!
