Frequently Asked Questions about Skip Hire

How long can I hire a skip for?

Todd Waste Management allow you to hire a skip for up to 14 days. If you do require a skip for a longer period of time, please call 01845 523131 for more information.

Do I require any permits/documents to hire a skip?

If the skip is to be kept on a public road you will require a permit from your local council, normally this will allow you to place a skip on a public road for a minimum of one week, but each council does vary.

How much does a permit cost?

The cost of a permit also depends on which council is issuing it, but is normally around £25 to £55. Todd Waste Management can purchase the permits on your behalf along with your skip order. In the unlikely event that you are unable to obtain on off-road permit, we also offer a ‘wait & load’ service.

What is a ‘Wait & Load’ service?

A skip truck is sent to your site and waits for 20-30 minutes while the skip is being filled. After this time, the filled skip is taken away.

What do I do when my skip is full?

When you are ready for us to collect or exchange your skip, simply contact us on 01845 523131 to arrange a suitable date.

What types of waste are classed as hazardous?

The number of wastes now classed as hazardous has increased. Waste such as asbestos, plaster board, fluorescent lights, fridges, freezers, motor oil / fuel, batteries, electronics, paints and solvents are classed as hazardous. As a result these wastes must not be disposed of in a general waste skip. Please call 01845 523131 for our hazardous waste disposal services.

Will my waste be disposed of legally and safely?
